| Houston, Texas — For two weeks, President Trump has been calling for the elimination of the filibuster, and after receiving pushback from “old creatures of a dying institution,” President Trump hosted the Senate GOP Conference to demand that they eliminate it once and for all. Texans are demanding to know: Will John Cornyn violate his 24-year pledge to preserve the filibuster? Or will he stand with President Trump as he claims to do “99% of the time?”  Senator John Cornyn on the filibuster: October 2025: Senator Cornyn says eliminating the filibuster is a “non-starter.” September 2024: Cornyn states that he would reject “all attempts” to abolish the filibuster.
