Houston, TX – A recent CBS story about the Texas Senate race confirmed what we’ve already known to be true for months – John Cornyn’s polling numbers are sinking. In the story, CBS presents the polling numbers for the race from mid-September up to the moment Wesley announced his Senate candidacy, as well as the state of the race a month after Wesley entered.
This is what they found:
Mid-September
Paxton: 34%
Cornyn: 33%
Wesley: 22%
Wesley’s Entrance (Oct. 6th)
Paxton: 28%
Cornyn: 24%
Wesley: 19%
One Month After Wesley’s Entrance (Oct. 30th)
Paxton: 25%
Cornyn: 25.5%
Wesley: 24%
At first glance, these results appear disastrous for incumbent Senator John Cornyn. Keep in mind, Senator Cruz won his primary less than a year ago with 88% of the vote; Cornyn can barely eclipse 25%.
Upon closer examination, you’ll notice that Cornyn’s support has dropped 10% since May 2025, following the expenditure of $50 million by SLF and other anti-Hunt and pro-Cornyn groups.
John Cornyn has repeatedly stated he needs President Trump’s endorsement immediately. In fact, Cornyn stated, “we can’t wait [any longer].”
Why can’t John Cornyn wait any longer without a Trump endorsement?
Because Wesley Hunt is the only candidate with sustained momentum in this race, despite having millions of dollars spent against him, and will soon eclipse John Cornyn in 2nd place.
Recent polls have Sullivan (AK), Collins (ME), Cooper (NC), Rogers (MI), Husted (OH), and others losing to their Democrat counterparts across the country, yet SLF has spent $50 million in Texas to resuscitate Cornyn’s sinking campaign.
Wesley Hunt is outperforming John Cornyn in the general election against any potential Democrat nominee. Why is SLF spending $50 million, including millions against Wesley, when he is the clear choice as the GOP nominee?
