Join Wesley Hunt For A Non-Partisan Candidate Forum

This evening, Wesley Hunt, Republican candidate for Texas’ 7th Congressional District, will participate in a non-partisan candidate forum hosted by the six Mayors of the Memorial Villages. Initially designed to be an open, non-partisan debate for Hunt and his opponent, Representative Lizzie Fletcher, tonight’s forum will now feature a question-and-answer session with candidate Wesley Hunt, as Fletcher refuses to attend.

The Mayors of the Memorial Villages organized this event to give voters access to open, transparent dialogue between the candidates. In Fletcher’s absence, their goal remains the same: provide an objective, candid forum in which voters’ questions are answered.

Unfortunately, this event marks the fourth debate invitation snubbed by Representative Fletcher in the past two months. And while Fletcher, determined to obscure her liberal voting record, continues to dodge these open debates, Hunt is enthusiastic to participate in what he believes is an integral element of our democratic system.

“Debates are a fixture in our democracy, and I take very seriously my responsibility to openly respond to questions from voters in the 7th District,” said Hunt. “Of course it is disappointing to see my opponent repeatedly refuse to engage in this process, but it’s what we’ve come to expect from someone who votes with Pelosi over 99% of the time. Rather than focus on this dereliction of duty on the part of my opponent, this evening I look forward to bringing this race back to the people of the 7th District. At the end of the day, this election is about the voters: their businesses, their families, and their future. I am looking forward to answering their questions and to furthering the dialogue necessary to advance the 7th District beyond the challenges we face today. Thank you to our hosts and everyone who has worked to make this important event possible.”
